TORO Round 5 Bonita, Tx

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

Bonita The property in Bonita that hosts the famous Bonita 100 is one of the most enjoyable places to ride in Texas. It is paradise for motoheds that want to get their feet wet in offroad riding. The trail could easily be navigated in a Ford Raptor and I’m pretty sure that if it were smooth, Ken Block would rip it apart in his Ford Fiesta. But, smooth and the Bonita trail do not go together in the same sentence. The course is fifteen miles of sand, whoops, more whoops, and jumps. After riding practice on Saturday, my goal was to get through the race with a solid finish, and not injure...

TSCEC Round 1 Cycleland Enduro

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

Cycleland The TSCEC enduro that is held just outside of Nacogdoches, TX is one of the events that I look forward to every season. Last year, I was recovering from shoulder surgery and was unable to attend the event. This year, my brother and I made the drive South from Dallas on Saturday and despite driving in the wrong direction for a period of time, we made it to the event with no problems. We hung out on Saturday with the Shoberts and Williamsons and it was great to see everyone from West Texas that made the long haul to enjoy the event. This year, sixteen riders were signed up in the...

TORO Round 4 Callisburg, TX

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

TORO Callisburg The TORO event at Callisburg was great this year! I had raced previously at the property in 2010 and was looking forward to returning for the TORO event this year. Joe McClellen laid out a challenging course that offered a variety of terrain. The course featured tight woods, black dirt, fields, elevation, and numerous creek crossings. I felt great during practice and I didn’t make a single adjustment to my KTM 300. The bike is phenomenal and each time I ride I seem to have more and more fun. The pro class was the final race of the afternoon on Sunday and I had a pretty lousy...

Thunderbird Energetica

Thunderbird_Energetica_Logo

I like energy bars, and over the past year, between bicycle races and motorcycle races I’ve had plenty. I discovered Thunderbird Energetica this fall while recovering and spending countless hours on my road bike. One of the founders, Katie Forrest moved to Denton for the semester and came along on several group rides and informed [...]
